Prysmian Group Makes $7 Million Investment in Expansion at Prescott, Ontario Facility
Addition of Distribution Centre will add 15 Jobs to the Area
Prysmian Group is pleased to announce a $7 million expansion to the Prescott, Ontario facility. The expansion will add a world-class distribution center to the manufacturing facility to provide efficiencies, simplify logistics and deliver the continued exceptional service that customers require and expect for all their wire and cable needs. The facility produces a wide range of medium and low voltage energy cables and is ideally located to serve both the Canadian and the Northeast U.S. market. It represents a significant investment in the company’s Canadian operations and will strengthen capabilities to serve customers, while adding 15 or more jobs to the area.
As part of this investment, Prysmian Group will relocate the company’s Brampton regional distribution center to Prescott. Construction will begin this year, and it is expected that the new distribution center will be in operation by the third quarter of 2022. The distribution center in Brampton will continue operation until equipment and inventories are transferred to Prescott during the second quarter of 2022. Employees were offered the opportunity to transfer with the operations to Prescott.
“We consistently look at ways to improve our operations and service to our customers,” said Paul Furtado, COO, Prysmian Group North America. “This strategic move will allow us to provide more efficient service to our customers while simplifying logistics. The Prescott facility has a 42-year history in the area and has a proven, quality local workforce. They are poised to build on the existing operations to streamline the distribution to our customers.”
