Prysmian is leading the way in AI hyperscale and Neoscaler data center development, offering an expanding range of Indoor Micro Fiber Cables (MFC) with 16 fibers per unit. Prysmian provides two main categories of indoor micro fiber cables.

16 Fiber Micro Cable

The first category features the innovative 16-fiber FlexRibbon® Technology (RFC product code), designed for applications where one or both ends of the cable require mass-fusion splicing. Fusion splicer manufacturers now support 16f mass-fusion capabilities, ensuring compatibility with Prysmian's RFC cables. Although this development is not yet widely known, it significantly enhances installation flexibility.

The second category consists of the more traditional 16 loose fibers per subunit (MFC product code). Within these two types of cables, Prysmian offers a combination of 200µm and 250µm fibers, as well as various subunit sizes. To get a clear picture of what's currently available, let's review the charts detailing each product offering.

Let's begin with the 16 Fiber FlexRibbon® Technology Micro Fiber Designs (RFC). Below, you will find five cable options featuring three different subunit sizes: 2mm, 2.4mm, and 3.8mm, along with fiber diameters of 200µm and 250µm. These options offer flexibility to meet a variety of project needs and instill confidence in our product range.

Next, we will examine the 16 Loose Fiber per Subunit Designs in our traditional MFC. These designs predominantly feature 2.4mm subunits, which provide greater flexibility during installation. There is also one design with a 2mm subunit that includes a 200µm fiber. The 2.4mm subunits are available in both single-mode and multimode fibers, catering to diverse network requirements and simplifying deployment across various environments.

As Neoscalers look to develop new infrastructure using Base-16 architecture, Prysmian’s 16f cable portfolio will continue to expand. We expect further advancements in architecture for Passive Optical Networks (PON) Out Of Band (OOB) management to leverage the intuitive 16f designs with industry-standard split ratios.

In addition to innovation, we are proud to say that our MFC and RFC portfolios are Made Right Here in the US, highlighting our commitment to quality and supporting local industry.
