AIRGUARD® XP Fiber Optic Cable (Canada)

In industrial and harsh environments, aggressive chemicals like hydrocarbons, solvents, acids, and bases can damage traditional fiber cables. The AIRGUARD® XP cable is designed to resist these harsh elements. It exceeds the stringent UL 2556 requirements for oil and gasoline resistance.
When comparing impact and crush resistance, AIRGUARD® XP competes effectively against interlocking armored cables. While interlocking armor provides protection through its metallic armoring, it is also stiff, heavy, and requires grounding. Additionally, severe impacts or crushes may cause permanent deformation to the metallic armor. In contrast, the AIRGUARD® XP is an all-dielectric option that circumvents these disadvantages, allowing for installation in trays or ladders next to copper communication or power-carrying cables. This design offers greater flexibility and ease of use.
AIRGUARD® XP cables meet or exceed essential industry standards, including ANSI/ICEA 696, CSA 22.2, UL 1277, and Telcordia GR-20. The robust all-dielectric double jacket is certified for sunlight resistance (SUN RES) and direct burial (DIR BUR). This cable is highly versatile, suitable for low-temperature applications down to -50°C (-58°F), and designed for properly engineered, self-supporting aerial installations.
An optional dual jacket with a single corrugated steel tape is also available. This option is listed for SUN RES and DIR BUR, providing optimal protection against rodents in direct burial applications.
