Milestones

At Prysmian, we consistently face challenges and provide innovative solutions across all facets of our industry. Our participation in projects around the globe has seen our products and systems integrated into the tallest buildings, the deepest seas, and even the most ambitious aerospace endeavors.

Our diverse range of products and systems demonstrates our versatility and ability to meet various needs. Our exceptional expertise and technological capabilities, combined with our global presence, enable us to develop timely and effective solutions for all clients. Our impact is evident in several international landmarks, showcasing our significant influence in the industry.

Though our achievements are extensive, here are a couple of noteworthy examples: Prysmian contributed to the operation of the One World Trade Center, also known as the Freedom Tower, in Manhattan, the fourth-tallest skyscraper in the world. We supplied mobile cables and technical equipment for over 100 elevators. Additionally, in response to the growing energy demand in New York City, we designed, supplied, and installed an underwater cable across the Hudson River, enabling the city to illuminate its skyline.

In the energy sector, we have connected offshore wind farms in the North Sea to the European mainland. By decreasing the production costs of wind energy, our cables are facilitating the development of sustainable energy resources, making them more competitive with electricity generated from traditional power plants. Notably, Prysmian played a crucial role by supplying the cable solutions for SylWin1 off the coast of Germany, marking a significant milestone in the energy sector.

At Prysmian, we are committed to renewable energy, yet we recognize that the world will still depend on fossil fuels, oil, and gasoline for many years to come. Our products play a crucial role in significant development projects within the oil and gas industry, whether they are in Brazil, the Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea, or Southeast Asia. Our extensive range of SURF (Subsea Umbilical, Riser, and Flowline) products and services reflects our vision and dedication to a sustainable future.

Our manufacturing team is continually seeking new resources and is ready to adapt and innovate. This flexibility enables us to bring to life unprecedented projects, assuring our stakeholders of our capability to address new challenges.

On the other side of the globe, we responded to a request from the Australian government by undertaking the monumental task of cabling the country from coast to coast. This initiative, the largest infrastructural challenge Australia has ever faced, resulted in 93% of the country’s buildings being connected to a broadband network, demonstrating our ability to successfully manage large-scale projects.

The sky is not the limit for Prysmian, as we have collaborated on numerous aerospace projects over the years, contributing to the realization of the most innovative aircraft. For example, our aluminum conductor-based airframe wires were first utilized in the world’s largest passenger airliner, the Airbus A380, allowing for impressive weight savings of 30%.

The projects we have undertaken globally represent significant milestones in key areas of energy and communication. These remarkable achievements, which help countries and communities advance, illustrate Prysmian's role as a world-class enabler.
