ULTROL® 60+ cables are specifically designed to deliver reliable low- and medium-voltage power for efficient power production, distribution, control, and communications within nuclear facilities. These cables are optimized for operation in all known reactor environments, including areas both inside and outside containment, as well as the turbine island and the rest of the plant. ULTROL 60+ is a Step Above the Rest

  • Meets the highest nuclear safety standards for both inside and outside containment.
  • Complies with all regulations set by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
  • Demonstrates thermal aging and radiation resistance for exposure levels up to 350 MRad, ensuring a service life of over 60 years.
  • Meets or exceeds environmental qualification testing for loss-of-coolant accidents (LOCA) and high-energy line breaks (HELB) according to IEEE 323 and IEEE 383.
  • Provides excellent performance in wet-electrical (submersion) scenarios after aging at 90°C for two years.
  • Delivers reliability under extreme conditions, including cold and hot temperatures, humidity, abrasion, and fire performance during emergencies.
  • Features a tough, abrasion-resistant, flame-retardant Cross-linked Polyolefin (XLPO) jacket compound.

Nuclear Product Range

ULTROL 60+ medium voltage power cables provide outstanding performance for utility power generating plants and various industrial three-phase applications. Rated Class 1E, these cables are specifically designed for use in nuclear power plants and are available in versions rated for 5kV, 8kV, and 15kV.

Prysmian offers a variety of Class 1E-rated low-voltage power cables: 

  1. Low-Voltage SIS Switchboard Wire – Type SIS & Type SIS/XHHW-2: The ULTROL 60+ SIS 600 V is a Class 1E-rated switchboard wire designed for use in Class 1E low-voltage applications. It is intended for the operation and interconnection of protective devices, ensuring optimal performance where flame retardancy is essential.
  2. Low-Voltage Power Cable – Type RHH/RHW-2: The ULTROL 60+ 600 V low-voltage power cables, which are Class 1E-rated, are specifically designed for Class 1E power and lighting applications. They are critical for ensuring optimal performance and flame retardancy. These cables are available in both heavy-wall and dual-wall versions to provide the necessary jacket protection.
  3. Low-Voltage Thermocouple Extension Cable: The ULTROL 60+ 600 V thermocouple extension cable is Class 1E-rated and intended for use in critical circuits. It ensures complete isolation between pairs and protects against external interference.
  4. Low-Voltage Power Cable – Type TC-ER: The ULTROL 60+ 600 V power cable features a Class 1E-rated construction and is specifically designed for Class 1E power distribution and control circuits. It is suitable for power, lighting, control, and signal circuits.

The ULTROL 60+ instrumentation cable is a 600V multiconductor cable constructed with thermoset material and rated as Class 1. It is specifically designed for Class 1E applications, including monitoring, data recording, and transmitting information within circuits. This cable comes in various configurations, each offering different levels of shielding to protect against external electrostatic interference.
