Product Overviews

Verrillon®’s traditional fiber coatings include materials rated for 150°C (MTDA), 200°C (SPFA), and 300°C (Polyimide). For environments between 150°C and 200°C, Verrillon® introduced the Carbon/Silicone/Mid-Temp Acrylate (CSMTA) coating, designed specifically for this mid-temperature range. This coating is fully qualified for use at 175°C in both long-term exposure and extensive thermal cycling between -40°C and +175°C. Beyond excellent temperature performance, the 175°C coating offers outstanding strippability with traditional mechanical tools due to the unique properties of its primary layer.

The VSR Series of Ultra-High Solarization-Resistant fibers is engineered to transmit light in the deep UV (DUV) region of the spectrum, where standard silica glass experiences significant darkening and attenuation greater than 2000 dB/km, unacceptable for DUV applications.

Verrillon®’s Ultra-High Solarization-Resistant Fiber delivers long-term, exceptional throughput in the deep UV range without solarization effects. Its permanent resistance to UV darkening ensures reliable performance and stability over time, making it suitable for a wide range of DUV and radiation environment applications.

VMM100 Series multimode optical fibers are available with a variety of coatings and coating combinations, including Polyimide, Silicone-PFA, and Carbon, which can be used together as outer coatings. These fibers are offered with both low and high OH concentrations, optimizing them for power transmission from UV through near-IR wavelengths. Their all-silica construction provides a high damage threshold and excellent optical properties. These fibers are ideal for passive high-power fiber laser components such as pump combiners.

VHT500 Series Single-mode Optical Fibers

The VHT500 Series is a single-mode fiber with a pure silica core and a protective metal coating, enabling operation at temperatures up to 500°C. These fibers are commonly used in downhole data logging for enhanced supercritical geothermal applications, high-temperature oil and gas downhole monitoring using acoustic, strain, and temperature sensing, and downstream oil process monitoring.

VHT5000 Series Multimode Optical Fibers

The VHT5000 Series is a multimode graded-index optical fiber with optimized glass chemistry for high resistance to hydrogen darkening, paired with a metal coating that enables operation up to 500°C. These fibers are typically used in downhole data logging for enhanced supercritical geothermal applications, high-temperature oil/gas downhole sensing, and downstream oil processing.

VSS700 BI80 Reduced Diameter Bend-Insensitive Single-Mode Optical Fibers

This 80μm reduced-diameter fiber is a bend-insensitive single-mode fiber, fully compatible with standard single-mode fibers for easy splicing and low splice loss. It offers a small form factor (SFF) and low macro-bend loss, making it ideal for applications that require compact packaging and tight bending configurations.

VSS200 Coupler Optical Fibers

VSS200 Coupler Fiber products are a family of 980nm operating single-mode fibers designed for manufacturing fused devices, including couplers, splitters, WDMs, tap couplers, and add/drop filters for communications and sensing applications. These fibers feature exceptionally low optical loss, excess loss, insertion loss, and bend loss due to their high numerical apertures. VSS200 coupler fibers are available in all Verrillon coatings and coating combinations, with numerical apertures ranging from 0.13 to 0.20.

VSS200 Select Cutoff Optical Fibers

Verrillon® also offers a suite of special cutoff wavelength single-mode fibers with cutoff and operating wavelengths ranging from 450nm to 1500nm. These select cutoff fibers are available in all Verrillon coatings for temperatures ranging from cryogenic to 500°C.

VSS200 Photosensitive Optical Fibers

The VSS200 Photosensitive Fiber is a single-mode fiber with modified glass chemistry that enhances the core’s sensitivity to UV light while suppressing the cladding modes in the FBG spectrum which can be detrimental to the selective wavelength functionality of the grating. This enables efficient, high-quality Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) writing with extremely short UV exposure. Its high glass sensitivity allows FBG writing up to five times faster than standard single-mode fibers, significantly boosting productivity in mass FBG production. The fiber is also well-suited for FBG arrays in quasi-distributed sensing applications.

VHS100-HiNA Series

The VHS100-HiNA Series comprises small-form-factor (SFF), bend-insensitive, reduced-cladding single-mode fibers engineered for harsh-environment applications where tight bends and hydrogen resistance are critical. Featuring an 80 μm cladding diameter, these fibers are ideal for compact coils in interferometric sensing. Verrillon®’s hermetic carbon coating provides exceptional resistance to static fatigue, extending service life. The VHS100-HiNA family is offered with high proof-test levels from 100 to 300 kpsi.

Verrillon® offers small-form-factor, low-loss fiber optic coils used in interferometric sensors and time delay lines. Using its highly automated coiling equipment, Verrillon® can customize your high-precision coils as small as a few centimeters in diameter and within the most stringent optical budgets. In addition, Verrillon® offers long-lifetime, high static fatigue resistance coils using its renowned hermetic coating technology.

Verrillon®’s 500°C-Rated Harsh Environment Fiber Optic Cable is designed to minimize strain on optical fibers due to thermal expansion at high temperatures. Three inner tubes, each designed to contain one VHT Series metal-coated fiber, are stranded together. An outer tube, constructed from anti-corrosive steel, encapsulates the inner tubes to enable deployment in extremely harsh environments. The outer tube is designed to provide high mechanical strength while maintaining a small minimum bend radius. Metal-coated fiber options are available from Verrillon®.
