Aerospace Cable and Wire Solutions
Prysmian has been a leader in the aerospace cable market since the 1960s, when our predecessor, Fileca, supplied the first generations of aerospace cables for the Concorde program.
Today, we continue to build on this esteemed heritage by leveraging decades of knowledge and expertise to provide high-quality cable and wiring solutions for civil, military, and space aviation applications. We address a wide range of requirements by offering a range of cable types tailored to specific applications.
Our product range includes standardized options such as DR and MIL-Spec cables, as well as specialized constructions like customized assemblies, data transmission cables, and optical cables. Our cables are designed to withstand severe mechanical, electrical, chemical, temperature, and radiative challenges.
All our products are engineered with a focus on reducing dimensions and weight, and we customize them to meet each customer's unique needs. Our commitment to quality and on-time delivery is recognized and appreciated by customers worldwide.
Space Applications
As the demand for electronic applications in the aerospace industry continues to grow, Draka Fileca designs and develops wires and cables that meet the stringent requirements of various space environments. Our range of space cables is qualified by the European Space Agency (ESA).
Aviation Applications
Since the early 1960s, Draka Fileca has specialized in producing dedicated cables for both civil and military aviation applications. We incorporate the most innovative technologies in manufacturing electrical and optical cables for aircraft and helicopter manufacturers worldwide. Our commitment to quality has enabled us to consistently meet industry specifications and expectations for reduced dimensions and weight, arc-tracking resistance, high mechanical strength, and chemical and high-temperature durability.
From modeling and design to technology and production, our aviation portfolio demonstrates our industry expertise. It also highlights the extensive range of manufacturing processes we use to create premium and innovative aviation cables, including:
- Airframe and hook-up wires
- Copper data transmission cables
- Optical fiber data transmission cables
- Special cables
FAR25 Compliance
Each type of aerospace cable is carefully designed to meet the safety standards set forth in Federal Aviation Regulation Part 25 (FAR 25), which address flammability, smoke density, and toxicity. Selecting the right materials is crucial to minimizing the extent to which the cables contribute to fire propagation. Another important consideration is arc-tracking resistance, which measures the cables' ability to resist electrical tracking. This assessment helps us understand the implications for developing new aircraft.
