Prysmian and Rio Tinto's innovative partnership is helping build a more sustainable supply chain for materials needed to expand power grids for the energy transition.
We are united in our climate change ambitions, driven by sustainability and innovation. With similar goals to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions and reach net zero by 2050, this partnership is a testament to our dedication to a greener future.
In 2023, Rio Tinto and Prysmian signed a five-year supply agreement for low-carbon aluminum made with renewable hydropower from Rio Tinto's Canadian operations. This agreement will support Prymian's decarbonization efforts toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
We also have a joint development agreement to leverage our technologies, R&D capabilities, and technical expertise to develop multi-material solutions supporting North America's growing electrification demand.
This partnership brings our teams together around innovative solutions and projects like recycling initiatives, product circularity, traceability and transparency. Together, Prysmian and Rio Tinto are working to build a more sustainable supply chain for the materials needed to meet this growing energy demand.
