Prysmian Confirms Its Commitment To Optical Fiber And Cable Innovation To Meet Growing Traffic Demands
The Group Presents its 6912 Fiber FlexRibbon™ Cable at OFC 2019
Prysmian Group, a world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, will present to the market its new 6912 fiber MassLink™ Cable with FlexRibbon™ Technology at OFC Conference and Exhibition 2019, taking place on March 3-7 in San Diego, Calif.
The 6912 fiber FlexRibbon™ provides an ultra-compact outside plant cable design that contains 6912 bend-insensitive fibers, with a cable diameter small enough to fit into a 50.8 mm/2-inch duct. By using FlexRibbon technology, ribbons are rolled up and packed together in small diameter subunits. Yet, these 200 ųm fiber ribbons still provide the advantages of mass fusion splicing. Originally designed for use by hyper-scale data-center customers, 6912 fiber MassLink has potential uses in all telecom markets. The addition of the 6912 fiber cable further expands Prysmian’s portfolio of MassLink Fiber Cable with FlexRibbon Technology.
FlexRibbon 6912 is set to make its debut at OFC Conference and Exhibition, the largest global conference and exhibition for optical communications and networking professionals, with a rich and comprehensive program - from research to the marketplace, from components to systems and networks and from technical sessions to the exhibition.
“The fiber density speaks for itself,” said Phillipe Vanhille, Executive Vice President Telecom Business at Prysmian Group. “With this amount of fiber in a single cable, we concentrated on a product design that would provide installers and splicers with craft friendliness and superior fiber management. We, therefore, confirm our commitment to constantly investing in our optical fiber and cable capacities to support our customers in developing new reliable and cost-effective broadband networks.”
At the company stand – Booth #1739 – will also be displayed Prysmian Group’s portfolio for multi-conductor FTTA hybrid cables for mobile applications. Moreover, displayed on stand there will be the Company’s offer for optical connectivity solutions providing flexibility in design, simple modularity for upgrading and superior quality
Prysmian will be in the spotlight at this year’s conference. having its representatives participating, among the others, at the workshop “What is a Real Killer Application of SDM, Telecom or Non-Telecom?”, taking place on Sunday, March 3, from 4 pm to 6 pm. Alain Bertaina will hold a speech about “Fiber cable density: a growing hyperscale need. State of the art and next steps”, while Pierre Sillard will take part in the experts’ panel. Jon Fitz, director of product management for North America will be presenting “Technical Considerations for Pairing Very Low Loss Fiber and Cable” on Tuesday, March 5 at 5:30 p.m.
