Prysmian Group, the world leader in the energy and telecom cable industry, took time for a corporate social responsibility experience to give back to the Greater Cincinnati community by preparing 20 solar car kits for donation to iSPACE STEM on Friday, September 29, 2023.

Prysmians senior leaders worked with Impact 4 Good, a company that plans team building programs to give back to this community. For this event, they selected “Go GREEN Racing.” Go GREEN Racing focuses on the importance of youth learning about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and alternative energy at an early age. During a highly energized and competitive program, teams used creativity and ingenuity to build solar and recycled cars in preparation for an exciting racing tournament.

Along the way, Prysmian’s leadership team prepared 20 solar car kits for donation to the students of iSPACE STEM with hand-written “STEM Messages of Encouragement,” which were included with each solar car kit to motivate and inspire each student.

“At Prysmian, we value sustainability and positively impacting our community,” said Andrea Pirondini, CEO of Prysmian Group North America. “We are excited to have the opportunity to donate to these students and encourage them as they pursue their passions in STEM while building synergy amongst our senior leadership team. It is a great opportunity to reflect on why we do what we do.”

Prysmian Group recognizes that to drive sustainability, the company must also enable people and communities to support it. In line with the company’s social ambitions, Prysmian strives to partner with local communities to develop educational training programs and encourage students of all ages to explore and embrace STEM careers – such as donating to the students of iSPACE STEM.

For over 20 years, iSPACE has provided innovative and engaging STEM educational programs across Greater Cincinnati. iSPACE offers field trips, summer camps, robotics competitions, professional development and other programs to students, teachers, families and professionals. These immersive, hands-on, minds-on experiences are designed to stimulate interest in STEM and develop pathways to STEM careers. They have over 960 school programs, 481 campers over 34 camps, 22 educator academy graduates, 18 grant implementations, and 135 Pi Day participants. Their programs are designed to align with state curriculum standards, minimize student downtime, keep pupil to teacher ratio low, and offer quality educational aspects from highly qualified educators. iSPACE STEM also values the development of soft skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and communication.

“Thank you for your generous donation of 20 unassembled solar car kits to iSPACE, the STEM Learning Place,” said Susan Hare, Executive Director of iSPACE STEM, following the event. “Your donation of solar car kits will be used in one of our summer camps. What a fun way to introduce students to STEM! You have our genuine thanks for this donation which will help us reach more students and introduce them to STEM in a fun, hands on manner.”
