20-10 Control Cable
These heavy-duty cables are designed for substation control functions and can also be used for general-purpose control circuits in industrial applications. They are semi-flexible and suitable for both AC and DC use in dry or wet locations. Additionally, these cables can be installed as aerial cables, within conduits or troughs, or directly buried in the ground.
The cables are rated at 600 volts for general control and protective devices, and 1000 volts for applications where high voltages may be induced by breaking inductive circuits. The conductors are insulated with PE/PVC, which provides excellent physical and electrical properties. Furthermore, the PVC jacket offers superior resistance to oil, chemicals, and moisture.
Design Parameters
Conductors: Bare soft copper Class B concentrically stranded per ASTM B 8.
Insulation: Natural-colored polyethylene (PE) meeting ICEA S-73-532 Section 3 and suitable for use in wet or dry locations at 75°C.
Conductor Jacket: Colored polyvinylchloride (PVC) compound meeting ICEA S-73-532 Section 3. Minimum insulator/jacket thickness complies with ICEA S-73-532 Section 3.2.2.
Circuit Identification: PVC jacket coded in accordance with ICEA S-73-532 Appendix E Method 1.
Assembly: Individual conductors are cabled, with non-hygroscopic fillers as necessary, to form a round, compact core, and then wrapped with a binder. Two-conductor versions are assembled flat, parallel.
Jacket: Black PVC meeting ICEA S-73-532 Section 4.2.
