Power & Control Tray Cable
For important power or control circuits requiring low-loss, high-temperature, flame-retardant cables, these cables are UL-listed per Article 340 of the NEC. They are approved for both direct sunlight exposure and direct burial. These cables can be used in cable trays in accordance with NEC Article 318, as they meet the requirements of the 70,000 BTU/hr vertical tray flame test specified in UL 1277, IEEE 383, and the ICEA 70,000 and 210,000 BTU/hr vertical tray flame tests as detailed in ICEA T-29-520 and T-30-520.
Additionally, these cables are suitable for Class 1, Division 2 hazardous locations per Article 501 and for Class 1 control circuits per Article 725. They are designed to be durable, offering excellent moisture and corrosion resistance, along with high dielectric properties. The insulated conductors are UL-listed as XHHW-2.
Design Parameters
Conductors: Bare soft copper per ASTM B 3, Class B concentrically stranded per ASTM B 8.
Insulation: High dielectric strength, heat and moisture-resistant colored crosslinked polyethylene (XLP) rated for continuous use at 90°C dry and wet to meet UL 44 for XHHW-2 wire. Ethylene Propylene Rubber insulation (FREP XHHW-2) is available as an option.
Conductor Jacket: Sheathed with a clear nylon jacket meeting UL 83 for THHN or THWN
Circuit Identification: Insulation is coded in accordance with NEMA WC-57 Color Code.
Assembly: Individual conductors are cabled, using non-hygroscopic fillers where necessary, to form a round, compact core and wrapped with a binder.
Jacket: Abrasion, oil and chemical resistant and highly flame retardant PVC or CPE jacket to meet UL Standard 1277. A thermoset chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) jacket is available as an option.
