PowrServ® AR Triplex Underground Distribution Cable (US)
Product Construction
Triplex PowrServ® abuse-resistant (AR) cables consist of two phase conductors and one neutral conductor, all insulated with extruded, lead-free composite Crosslinked Polyethylene (XLPE) and High-Density Crosslinked Polyethylene (HDXLPE). The cables are twisted together to form a triplex assembly. These XLPE-insulated cables are manufactured and tested in accordance with ANSI/ICEA S-81-570 and UL 854 and are certified as Type USE-2 cables.
Conductors: Class B or SIW compressed 1350-H19 aluminum.
Composite Insulation: The extruded lead-free crosslinked polyethylene insulation complies with the requirements of ANSI/ICEA S-81-570. The extruded lead-free, high-density, crosslinked polyethylene meets ASTM D1248 Type III standards. The two-phase conductors are black, while the neutral conductor is also black but marked with three extruded yellow stripes.
Phase Identification: Phase identification is indicated through white printed legend markings and sequential footage markings on one phase conductor, white printed legend markings on the second phase conductor, and white printed legend markings along with three extruded yellow stripes on the neutral conductor.
Features and Benefits
The dual-extruded composite insulation system provides a high level of protection against damage to the insulation from contaminated backfill material and against cuts and abrasions that may occur during installation. For NEC-compliant applications, the maximum conductor operating temperature is 90°C, applicable in both wet and dry locations. This cable is also suitable for non-code-compliant installations, maintaining the same maximum conductor temperature of 90°C in wet or dry environments.
Applications
The PowrServ AR XLPE/HDXLPE underground distribution cable is designed for use in underground systems operating at 600 volts or less.
