BOSTGARD™ Soaking Pit Cable
BOSTGARD™ Soaking Pit Cable is specifically designed and manufactured to ensure long-lasting performance in extreme heat and severe flexing conditions.
This cable is ideal for applications such as ingot transfer cars, scrap charging machines, soaking pit cranes, mud guns, and ladle transfer cars. It is also suitable for use in harsh environmental conditions, including intense heat and abrasion. Additionally, BOSTGARD cables are well-suited for flexible applications, including festoon systems and cable reels.
Construction Options
BOSTGARD™ Cables are designed and manufactured in a variety of alternative constructions for specific applications.
Options include:
- Shielded groups
- Overall shields
- Composite conductors
Design Parameters
Conductors: The conductors are made from extra-flexible Class K stranding, using soft-drawn tinned copper as per ASTM B-33 and ASTM B-172 standards. This design ensures high flexibility, extended flex life, reduced copper fatigue, lower conductor breakage, corrosion resistance, and ease of soldering.
Insulation: The insulation consists of heat-resistant silicone rubber reinforced with an abrasion-resistant fiberglass braid, in accordance with ICEA S-19-81 standards. This combination provides resistance to extreme heat and abrasion, ensuring a long service life and reduced downtime.
Cabling and Jacket: The color-coded conductors are cabled together with a flame-retardant thermal barrier tape and covered with an overall fiberglass braid jacket. This setup offers protection from extreme heat, sparks, and molten splatter.
Cable Armor: A braided stainless steel armor is included to protect the cable in critical service applications, offering both abrasion and cut-through protection.
