FIBER-FLEX® Festooning Cable
FIBER-FLEX® Festooning Cable is specifically designed for installation on festoon systems to transmit optical data. In addition to festoon applications, FIBER-FLEX is suitable for use in cable tracks. This cable can be used both indoors and outdoors and operates effectively in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 90°C. It is ideal for cranes, hoists, or any equipment that moves laterally.
Construction Options
FIBER-FLEX® cables are designed and manufactured in a variety of alternative constructions for specific applications.
Options include:
- Single-mode fiber
- 50 micron multimode fiber
- Different fiber counts
Design Parameters
Fiber: The multimode optical fiber (62.5/125 µm) eliminates the need for expensive copper shielding.
Buffer Tube: The buffer tube is color-coded, gel-filled, deformation-resistant, and features a loose design with one fiber per tube. This design facilitates easy identification, offers mechanical protection, and withstands temperature extremes and high humidity.
Cabling: The tubes are arranged around an epoxy-glass core, with a short lay length for optimal flexibility. A full braid of Kevlar® is integrated over the core, which adds strength and reinforcement to the assembly. Any tensile forces experienced during rapid acceleration and deceleration are managed by the braided Kevlar® strength member.
Jacket: The inner jacket, made of deformation-resistant fluoro-polymer, provides a stable base for the braided Kevlar strength member. The outer jacket, made from oil-, chemical-, and weather-resistant neoprene, is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use in demanding environments where oil, chemicals, and extreme temperatures are factors.
