Type XHHW-2 XLPE Insulated Wire
Prysmin's Type XHHW-2 cable is designed for a variety of commercial and industrial applications. It can be installed in both wet and dry locations, indoors and outdoors, in raceways, underground ducts (ask about our pre-installed cable-in-conduit products), and for aerial or direct-burial installations.
Our Type XHHW-2 cable complies with NEC standards for continuous operation at 90°C in both wet and dry environments, can handle emergency overload conditions at 130°C, and withstands short-circuit conditions up to 250°C.
Design Parameters
Conductors: Class B, soft-drawn, bare copper, conforming to ASTM B3 and ASTM B8 standards. As options, both tinned copper conductors and extra-flexible conductors are available.
Insulation: The insulation is made of heat- and moisture-resistant cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) that meets the requirements of ICEA S-95-658 (NEMA WC 40) and UL 44 for Type XHHW-2 wires. It is suitable for use in both wet and dry locations, with a maximum conductor temperature of 90°C for normal operation.
Assembly: Single-conductor cables can be paralleled or multiplexed to facilitate more efficient installations. Additionally, single-conductor cables can be pre-installed in conduit.
