The Reel Advantage - Episode 0
Welcome to Prysmian's podcast, The Reel Advantage. In this episode, we introduce our hosts and correspondents and share why we launched our podcast.
Prysmian North America is thrilled to launch The Reel Advantage, the podcast where Prysmian pulls back the curtain on the people, projects, and innovations shaping the North American business.
In each episode, your hosts sit down with the leaders, reps, partners, and product experts who are driving real results across the wire and cable market.
We thought it was a way to deliver info not just about our products, but about our process, our theory and what makes it special. Almost the secret sauce of Encore Wire and Prysmian. You will hear REEL talk and the real advantage of partnering with us.
Meet your host: Anna Wright, Prysmian’s VP of Marketing and Communications
Anna Wright brings a storyteller’s view to the world of wire and cable. A St. Louis native and graduate of the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism, she began her career in TV news, reporting and anchoring across the Midwest (including hosting the morning news show in Cincinnati, just across the river from Prysmian’s Highland Heights office!).
Her path from journalism to communications and marketing spans multiple industries, which ultimately led her to wire and cable.
“I love a challenge. Being a journalist, I first and foremost want to find a story. I want to find a narrative, so how do you market and communicate wire and cable to make it relevant to people? When you really learn about wire and cable, you realize it’s everywhere,” said Wright.
Meet your host: Jon Compher, Prysmian’s National Account Manager – Industrial & Construction
Originally from the Birmingham, Alabama area, Jon Compher studied industrial distribution at the University of Alabama at Birmingham before launching his career with GE Lighting. He spent over a decade with GE during the rise of LED technology, eventually relocating to Houston to manage the Texas market.
After working alongside Encore’s leadership (including a former GE colleague!), Jon made the jump from lighting to wire and cable.
“I saw the light and got out of lighting,” Compher joked.
Known for his industry expertise and signature dad jokes, Compher now manages national accounts for Prysmian’s I&C business.
Meet your Ops Correspondent: Steven Ford, VP of NA Manufacturing – Industrial & Construction
Steven Ford grew up in a small Mississippi town of just 5,000 people and has spent his entire career in the manufacturing industry. With an undergraduate and master’s degree in engineering, he began building naval warships before transitioning to the wire and cable industry.
Ford now holds an MBA and bridges the gap among the technical, operational, and business aspects of manufacturing.
His operational theory? Keep it simple.
“Keep people safe and put wire in the truck,” Ford said. “I tend to want it to be oversimplified. The employees are the most important part of what we do every day.”
