Health, Safety, Environmental & Energy Policy

North America Health, Safety, Environmental & Energy Policy

We are committed to producing products in a safe, environmentally sound and responsible manner and consider the protection of employee safety, health and the environment as core values of the organization.

We will continually strengthen our Health, Safety, Environmental and Energy performance to:

  • Achieve zero injuries and illnesses through hazard elimination, risk reduction and safety programs that involve all employees, enabling everyone to do their job right, in a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Minimize our impact on the environment by ensuring the availability of information and resources to reduce the use of natural resources, optimize energy performance, prevent pollution, and to drive thoughtful material procurement, use, and process improvements in our facilities.
  • Manage our facilities and operations in a way that meets or exceeds legal and other requirements and minimizes risk to our associates, the public and communities where we operate.

Zero & Beyond

The Zero & Beyond philosophy is the foundation of Prysmian’s commitment to safety. It encompasses two main principles:

  1. Achieving zero fatalities, injuries, and occupational diseases.
  2. Going beyond just workplace safety to ensure well-being at home and in the communities where the Group operates.

All employees and stakeholders are expected to actively promote safety by following the Golden Rules, reporting unsafe conditions, and supporting continuous safety improvements.

In 2025, the Zero & Beyond philosophy was further promoted globally through a dedicated communication campaign during Safety Month. It is also a key component of the Safety Strategy for 2025–2030, which was validated last year with clear, measurable five-year targets. This reflects our ongoing commitment to achieving safety excellence.

The Strategy and Management System

Health and safety issues are managed by the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team within a hierarchical governance framework that includes Regional HSE Directors and local management.

Our Health and Safety Management System is aligned with ISO 45001:2018 and integrated into ISO 14001, reflecting our proactive commitment to preventing injuries and occupational diseases, thereby ensuring a safe environment for everyone.

The Health, Safety, Environment, and Energy (HSEE) Policy emphasizes transparency and accountability, supported by regular monitoring, audits, and improvement plans to reinforce our safety commitments.

Prysmian employs comprehensive tools to collect data, monitor injuries and near misses, conduct periodic audits, and implement improvement plans.

Notable health and safety initiatives undertaken by Prysmian in 2025 include a commitment to continuous improvement and proactive safety measures across all operations:

  • The Worker Safety: Zero & Beyond program remains central to our HSE strategy. It fosters a safety culture that values responsible behavior and proactive prevention, making employees feel integral to our safety efforts.
  • In terms of traffic management, we focused on implementing mitigation procedures and measures across all reporting units in 2025. This involved standardizing procedures, establishing segregated walkways, installing special signage, and enforcing obligatory mitigation measures at our production sites worldwide. Centralized monitoring through a global action tracker enables us to assess progress and ensure consistency across all business units.
  • We have launched a plan to upgrade anti-collision technologies on our forklift fleet. This initiative includes the introduction of advanced anti-collision systems and smart sensors to reduce the risk of accidents in logistics and production facilities, ultimately improving workplace safety and preventing incidents related to material movement.

Training

Training is a fundamental part of Prysmian’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) strategy. It reflects our commitment to helping all workers—employees, agency workers, and contractors—understand risks and their responsibilities. This approach aims to cultivate a sense of shared responsibility and engagement throughout the organization.

  • Safety Academy: Launched in 2021, this program has involved 24 HSE professionals in 2025, representing a 40% increase from 2024. The initiative seeks to recognize and develop the expertise of our HSE professionals, enhancing their technical skills, managerial capabilities, and understanding of health, safety, and environmental laws.
  • Continuous Training: This includes programs that address all aspects of technical and behavioral safety, as well as compliance with local laws and regulations. Our goal is to ensure comprehensive safety awareness across the organization.

Monitoring HSE Data

The monitoring of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) data is facilitated by a centralized information system. This system records incidents such as accidents, near misses, non-compliance issues, and corrective actions. It enables the following:

  • Analysis of key HSE Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and comparison of results.
  • Sharing of best practices on a global scale.
  • Continuous evaluation of achievements related to health, safety, and environmental targets.
