Sustainability Indices and Ratings

OVERVIEW

Meeting the expectations of customers and the community

As part of Prysmian’s ongoing dedication to sustainable business practices, we monitor all the most important sustainability indices and ratings. We maintain a particular focus on the following, which are most relevant to our business.

In recognition of our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, we moved up in the rankings in a number of international sustainability indices.
In 2018, the Company was ranked fourth in the Electrical Components & Equipment industry of the review by the Swiss sustainability rating agency RobecoSAM, included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), one of the most prestigious sustainability indices in the world.

Prysmian Group’s attention to environmental sustainability is also reflected in the Group's performance in the CDP Climate Change Report 2018, in whose Italian edition Prysmian is part of the leading companies that have publicly reported their environmental information as part of the Climate Change programme. The Group, included in the "Industrials" segment, obtained the B classification (on a scale of 8 values from A to D), confirming its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, in line with the objectives established by the COP21 of Paris, and to reducing its environmental impact. Moreover, Prysmian, at the request of its international customers, also responded to the Supply Chain program of CDP, both for the Climate Change theme and, for the first time this year, for the Water theme.

Also this year, Prysmian decided to participate in the EcoVadis survey. In 2017, as a result of the implementation and endorsement of additional sustainability policies and activities, Prysmian improved its ranking obtaining a score of 70/100, rising from the Silver level, obtained in 2016 with a score of 58/100, to the Gold level, placing itself in the top 1% of the best suppliers evaluated by EcoVadis.
In 2018, the Group confirmed its inclusion in FTSE4Good, receiving a positive assessment in social areas such as health and safety, human rights and the supply chain.

In 2018, Prysmian continued, for the third consecutive year, to be included in the prestigious Carbon Clean 200 report; in 58th place, it was the only Italian company present. Produced in collaboration with the non-profit As You Sow and Corporate Knights, Carbon Clean 200 is a report that assesses the world's largest widely held companies on the basis of their green energy revenues.

For the fourth consecutive year, Prysmian ranked in the Top 10 in the Comprend Webranking 2018 report, published in Italy by Lundquist, reaching ninth place, an improvement on its performance compared with 2017. This report shows how and to what extent companies are capable of engaging in dialogue with their stakeholders through their websites and the other digital channels available to them. Comprend Webranking Research is considered the main survey, at the European level, of company websites and is the only global ranking based on requests from stakeholders.

In 2017, the Group also participated in the 7th CSR Online Award, the first European research promoted by Lundquist that analyses how companies communicate their sustainability and involve their stakeholders on sustainability issues on their digital properties, gaining 25 positions compared to the previous edition and ranking in 18th place.

The DJSI is based on an analysis of corporate economics, environmental and social performance, and assesses issues such as: corporate governance, risk management, branding, climate change mitigation, supply chain standard and labor practices. It includes both general and sector specific sustainability criteria.

CDP is among the non-profit organisations best recognised at the international level for their assessment of transparency in the disclosure of information regarding climate change issues.

The Standard Ethics Italian Index is a corporate governance and sustainability exchange index launched on 1 January 2014 by the independent rating agency Standard Ethics.

The FTSE4Good Index is a series of ethical investment stock market indices launched in 2001 by the FTSE Group which are designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. Research for the indices is supported by the Ethical Investment Research Services (EIRIS).

Bloomberg collects environmental, social and governance data published in company documents. Bloomberg ESG Disclosure Score classifies companies according to their level of data disclosure. Scores are awarded on the basis of the sector of industry in which the company operates.

The EcoVadis methodology covers 21 criteria across four themes of Environment, Fair labor practices, ethics/fair business practices, and supplay chian.
