Medium Voltage Cable Solutions

Prysmian's medium-voltage secondary distribution cables incorporate the DOUBLESEAL® water-limiting system, which offers exceptional moisture protection in harsh environments, such as underground, wet, or corrosive areas. This unique system effectively blocks water from reaching the stranded conductors by utilizing STRANDSEAL® conductor filling compound. In addition, water-blocking agents are applied over the insulation shield and around the neutral wires to prevent any longitudinal water penetration. The DOUBLESEAL® designs are built with either TRXLPE or EPR insulation, ensuring superior protection and reliability.

LC SHIELD® is a type of copper tape that features a transverse corrugation and is applied longitudinally over the insulation shield, with an overlapping section. To secure this overlap, a bridging tape is used. This thoughtfully designed construction effectively prevents moisture ingress into the insulation system while accommodating the cable's thermal expansion and contraction. LC SHIELD® is available with either TRXLPE or EPR insulation options.
