Power Link Submarine Cable Solutions

In an increasingly interconnected and decentralized energy landscape, submarine cables are essential for power transmission, whether through interconnectors or from offshore wind farms. These cables are laid in extremely deep waters, often hundreds of meters below sea level, making them highly vulnerable to damage. In the past seven years, there have been 90 reported incidents involving submarine cables, resulting in insurance claims totaling over $400 million.

Preventing such incidents and addressing them quickly to minimize downtime is crucial for Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and offshore facility operators, who can incur significant losses from energy availability interruptions.

To tackle this challenge, Prysmian has developed Power Link Cable Solutions, which combines advanced monitoring technology with both preventive and reactive maintenance services. This comprehensive solution effectively manages subsea cable damages—from detection to recovery—dramatically reducing downtime and significantly lowering the total cost of ownership.

Power Link Cable Solutions provides the advantages of having a single partner, combined with the expertise of a world leader in the cable industry. This partnership enhances expertise in offshore submarine connections across all stages, from design and manufacturing to installation and testing. As a single-source service provider working with major companies worldwide, Prysmian acts as a single point of contact for the most advanced projects. By managing all other suppliers and contractors, Prysmian can reduce project risks and ensure efficient, on-time delivery from feasibility studies to final installation.
