CCW® Armored Power, 2.4 kV, Nonshielded, 3/C VFD SPEC 9700
The preferred wiring method for AC motors controlled by pulse-width-modulated inverters in Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) applications is to use 3-conductor CCW (Counterclockwise) armored cables with three symmetrical grounding wires. These CCW armored medium-voltage power cables provide an economical, durable, and reliable alternative to labor-intensive cable-in-conduit wiring methods. They are suitable for feeders and branch circuits in industrial power distribution systems in accordance with NEC Articles 328 and 330.
These cables can be used in hazardous locations classified as Class I, II, and III, Divisions 1 and 2, as well as Class I, Zones 1 and 2, following NEC Articles 501, 502, 503, and 505. Installation options include metal racks, troughs, raceways, and cable trays, or they can be secured to supports spaced no more than six feet apart. They can be installed in both exposed and concealed applications, in wet or dry locations, and can be directly buried or embedded in concrete. Additionally, they are recognized for use on fixed or floating offshore petroleum facilities, as recommended by the American Petroleum Institute.
