CCW® Armored Power, 5 kV 133%/8 kV 100%, Shielded, 3/C VFD SPEC 9800
The preferred wiring method for AC motors controlled by pulse-width-modulated inverters in VFD applications is to use 3-conductor CCW armored cables that include three symmetrical grounding wires. CCW armored medium-voltage power cables provide an economical, durable, and reliable alternative to more labor-intensive cable-in-conduit wiring methods.
These cables are suitable for feeders and branch circuits in industrial power distribution systems, as outlined in NEC Articles 328 and 330. They can be used in hazardous locations classified as Class I, II, and III, Divisions 1 and 2; as well as Class I, Zones 1 and 2, according to NEC Articles 501, 502, 503, and 505.
Installation can occur on metal racks, troughs, in raceways, in cable trays, or secured to supports spaced no more than six feet apart. The cables can be installed in both exposed and concealed work environments, whether wet or dry, directly buried, or embedded in concrete. They are also recognized for use on fixed or floating offshore petroleum facilities, as recommended by the American Petroleum Institute.
