Prysmian to Deliver Updates on Groundbreaking Grid Innovations at DISTRIBUTECH® 2026
Prysmian, a world leader in energy and data wire and cabling solutions, will feature its latest groundbreaking innovations for energy transmission and distribution at the 2026 DISTRIBUTECH® event, February 2-5, in San Diego, California.
As leader in power grid innovation, Prysmian highlight advanced solutions that support a more resilient, modernized, and safer grid. Attendees will get updates on grid solutions like Prysmian’s hands-free energy cable splicing machine, designed for use in underground vaults to increase network reliability and reduce energy losses due to splice failure. This machine revolutionizes the splicing process to ensure uninterrupted grid delivery and enhance worker safety.
“It’s the beginning of a new era for Prysmian, driven by complete solutions and customer service,” said Cody Davis, Power Distribution Application Engineering lead for Prysmian North America. "Not only are we continuing to innovate new solutions for power transmission and distribution, but we’re also dedicated to delivering the right set of integrated solutions to meet our customers’ specific needs and goals."
Together with utility partners Con Edison and Exelon, Prysmian will also host an Innovative and Emerging Tech Knowledge Hub Roundtable Session on underground cable splicing innovations at 2:45 PM PST on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
Prysmian received $4.5 million from the U.S. Department of Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) in 2024 to develop the groundbreaking splicing machine as part of the Grid Overhaul with Proactive, High-speed Undergrounding for Reliability, Resilience, and Security (GOPHURRS) program. This award was the largest allocation of GOPPHURS funding, demonstrating the immense value of this new technology to the industry.
Prysmian will showcase other innovations in sustainable technology and energy solutions, such as its ALESEA reel tracking system, turnkey network components and accessories solutions, PRY-CAM testing and monitoring technology, and its award-winning E3X® Technology, a heat-dissipating coating that can be applied directly to overhead aluminum products during production or to existing overhead power lines with remote robotic technology.
“Prysmian is known worldwide for our wire and cabling innovations, but our solutions go above and beyond wire and cable,” said Joe Coffey, VP of Overhead and High Voltage Sales for Prysmian North America. “We have the advanced technology, technical expertise, and power industry knowledge to deliver solutions that include a complete range of integrated products: advanced cabling, asset tracking, remote sensing, and all the accessories and support our customers need to strengthen the grid to deliver the power needed to meet grid demands now and in the future.”
