Prysmian, the leading provider of solutions for energy and digital connections, broke ground today on a $100 million expansion of its Jackson, Tennessee facility to increase loose-tube and drop optical fiber cable manufacturing capacity and support growing U.S. demand for advanced connectivity solutions.

The expansion marks the next chapter for the Jackson facility following Prysmian’s $30 million investment announced in 2022 to transform the plant from legacy copper cable production to optical fiber cable manufacturing. The first-of-its-kind project for Prysmian retooled an existing facility to manufacture a different product, establishing the capabilities and workforce that paved the way for today’s expansion.

Prysmian executives joined local officials, customers and community leaders for a groundbreaking ceremony marking the start of construction. The project is expected to create 100 new local jobs.

Andrea Pirondini, Prysmian North America CEO: “When we invested in Jackson in 2022, we saw an opportunity to transform an existing facility and workforce to help meet the country’s growing need for fiber infrastructure. That investment laid the groundwork for this next phase, and today, we’re building on that foundation to increase U.S. manufacturing capacity, strengthen our ability to serve customers and create new opportunities in the Jackson community.”

The Jackson expansion is part of Prysmian’s recently announced investments across North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee to expand domestic fiber and optical cable manufacturing capacity and create approximately 600 new U.S. manufacturing jobs.

A.J. Massey, Madison County Mayor: “One of the strongest indicators of a healthy local economy is when companies that have already invested in our community choose to invest even more. Prysmian’s continued growth in Jackson speaks volumes about the strength of our workforce, our business climate, and the partnerships we’ve built to support industry in Madison County. We appreciate Prysmian’s continued commitment to our community and look forward to the economic opportunities this expansion will bring to our citizens.”

Mayor Scott Conger, City of Jackson: “I want to thank Prysmian for the confidence in Jackson and for continuing to invest in our community. A $100 million expansion is a tremendous investment, and we're proud that you've chosen to make it right here in Jackson."

Construction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2028.
