Key Features
- ~20% Reduced cross-section surface area compared to traditional flat drop creates an easy to handle design that is also robust for demanding FTTH installations.
- +50% weight reduction compared to traditional flat drop gives installers more lightweight reels for easier and safer connections to residents.
- The smaller design easily coils and stores in “flower pots”, drop vaults, slack storage wheels and Network Interface Devices (NIDs).
- Easy-access jacket design allows quick opening with snips or side-cutters; 900µm tight-buffered fiber separates cleanly from the jacket and strength members.
- All-dielectric messengers eliminate the need for bonding or grounding; they have flexible, lightweight, and kink-resistant construction.
- Optional tone wire version features a co-extruded 24 AWG tracer for ease of locating.
- Dry water-blocking technology enables rapid preparation and termination with easy-to-remove materials—an industry first in this simplex drop cable design.
- Its versatile design supports push or pull installation through ducts and is highly crush-resistant for multiple environments. A dual-strength member configuration provides greater flexibility than a single dielectric rod, and allows a maximum span length of 160ft in NESC loading conditions—on par with traditional larger flat drop designs.
- Medium-density polyethylene jacket ensures low-friction installation and superior protection from moisture, UV exposure, and physical stress.
- Sheath markings applied by ink-jet printing provide clear identification and accurate length verification. Performance meets Telcordia GR-20 and ICEA 717 standards; BABA-compliant configurations available upon request.
- Registered supplier certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, TL 9000, and OHSAS 18001 standards.

FAQs
What is the ResiLink™ Mini-Flat Drop Dielectric or Toneable Cable?
It’s a reduced size all-dielectric or toneable flat drop fiber optic cable featuring a compact, durable design for aerial, duct, and direct burial installations.
What does “dielectric” mean in this cable?
“Dielectric” means the cable is non-metallic and does not require grounding, offering improved safety and flexibility in aerial and buried environments. The Mini-Flat version with a tone wire is thus not dielectric, and is designed for fast and easy locating. The tone wire must be properly bonded to ensure safe connections at the home.
What fiber counts are available for this cable?
The ResiLink™ Mini-Flat Drop Cable is available in single-fiber configurations with a 900µm tight-buffered design, ideal for FTTH applications.
Where is the Mini-Flat Drop Cable typically used?
It’s commonly used in broadband, FTTH, and access networks where a small, flexible, and robust drop solution is needed for self-supporting or direct burial installations. The 900µm tight-buffer fiber allows for rapid field terminations inside enclosures and Network Interface Devices NIDs. It is compatible with all mechanical no epoxy/no polish field installable and splice-on connectors. For the most robust connector installations used in service drop terminals, Prysmian’s ResiLink™ Universal Service Drop offers an embedded interconnect fiber with aramid for crimping connectors.
Mini-Flat is also available with our ezDROP Preconnectorized Fiber Drop Cable assemblies featuring the industry standard HFOC (Optitap® Compatible) connector or SC/APC connectors.
What are the benefits of the mini flat drop design?
The compact flat design allows easier handling, lower installation costs, and superior protection against environmental factors, making it an efficient and reliable drop solution. It boasts more than 50% greater weight savings and a reduction of almost 20% in cross-section surface area. This allows the cable to fit more slack inside Network Interface Devices (NIDs), “flower pots” or drop vaults. In addition to greater slack, the cable provides improved handling due to the dimensions and weight reduction, resulting in faster and safer installations at the home.
